Tim* came to Edmonton seeking help for his addiction after enduring a series of personal setbacks, including losing his job and the death of his brother. These challenges had driven him to struggle with his addiction for over a decade. The HELP team connected Tim with the George Spady Centre for immediate treatment and Our House Addiction Recovery Centre for a more extended care plan. However, Tim’s hope began to wane due to a long waiting list and difficulties accessing legal aid. After relapsing and being picked up by patrol, he was transported to the Integrated Care Centre. HELP stepped in again, assisting Tim in re-entering treatment and securing an interview with Our House. Remarkably, he was accepted that very same day—an unusual turnaround! Since then, Tim has been actively engaged in his recovery journey at Our House. He has praised the supportive staff, structured daily programming, fitness facilities, and nutritious meals.
Tim has built a strong support network and rekindled connections with his family. He continues to work through his traumatic experiences and develop healthy coping strategies for his substance use disorder. Currently, Tim is thriving at Our House, and the HELP team commends him for his dedication and progress in recovery.
