Camped beside the Grant MacEwan transit station, HELP met Emily while doing proactive community support.
Spending her days at the Stanley Milner library, then passing through Grant MacEwan, and finally camping outside the Grant MacEwan transit station once all the public facilities are closed, Emily was able to inform the HELP team of her whereabouts to stay connected.
Hesitant to access shelter spaces, Emily declined HELP’s offer to assist her in securing a bed at a shelter.
While HELP’s branch Sergeant and a HELP Navigator brainstormed alternative resources to help Emily, they suggested she seek warmth in the HELP building, just a 2-minute walk away.
Later that day, HELP was able to make a few referrals to different stabilization housing on Emily’s behalf.
Grace Village, the Salvation Army’s stabilization housing, was able to accommodate Emily immediately.
