Determined to turn his life around, Jason joined the Journeys to Success (JTS) program at Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society in May 2024. In recovery from addiction, Jason has been living in a sober living house, attending his drug court program, and showing up to the JTS program every day with one goal in mind: to rebuild his life. Motivated to re-enter the workforce and create a stable future, Jason set his sights on a career in welding, with the hope of securing his own place and gaining custody of his children.
After completing the in-class portion of the JTS program, Jason took the initiative to find an unpaid work placement in welding. His determination paid off when he landed a placement with a welding company, where he dedicated himself for three weeks before receiving a call from another company offering him a paid position. Jason has excelled in his new role, earning high praise from his employer. Now, he’s taking the next step toward his goal by getting his blue book for apprenticeship and working toward becoming a journeyman welder.
