Rory's Story

Rory has been actively working with the HELP Core team since January 2025 and has effectively transitioned back into the community. Rory is living at the Salvation Army Transitional House and has gotten his ID, income support, and a bank account with some guidance from HELP, but primarily on his own. Rory’s only struggle was getting access to his SIN number.

Despite Rory demonstrating remarkable self-initiative, he was aware that the HELP team was always available to provide support. HELP accompanied Rory to My Service Canada inside Canada Place, where they were successful in obtaining Rory’s SIN number.

“It was encouraging to see Rory do things for himself but also know he has supports he can ask for help when it is needed,” said a HELP navigator.
