In the heart of our city, Monica found herself in a dire situation. Escaping an abusive relationship and grappling with multiple health issues, she was forced to live back on the streets. Her days were spent in a heated U-Haul storage unit, where she not only sought refuge but also extended a helping hand to other houseless individuals by sharing various items.
Despite her challenging circumstances, she remained resilient. Patrol officers, recognizing her plight, referred her to the HELP Unit. Through numerous phone calls and persistent efforts, the HELP team finally arranged a meeting at her storage unit. It was a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of a transformative journey.
Leveraging HELP’s network of connections, the HELP unit secured a bed for her at the WIN House. With great care, they transported her and several of her belongings to the shelter. The relief and gratitude she expressed were profound. She was not only thankful for the assistance but also eager to help others by providing further contacts, a testament to the strong relationship HELP built with Monica.
