John’s Story

Edmonton Police Service Southeast (SE) patrol reached out to the HELP team with an urgent request. John, who was struggling to find work, had run out of funds. As a result, he did not have the means to get around the city to continue his job search or provide feed himself.

HELP wasted no time in organizing resources for John. They knew this wasn’t just about offering physical supports– it was about the chance of giving the gift of hope.

Within days, the HELP team had arranged for ten bus tickets so John could travel freely around the city. The Mosaic Centre also donated ten frozen meals. A toque and mittens were also acquired to help him bear the cold winter months.

A HELP constable and the SE patrol officer met John at his home with the supplies. He thanked them both, the weight of his situation slightly lifted. With the resources he needed to keep moving forward, John was ready to continue his job search with renewed determination. For everyone involved—the patrol officer, the HELP Constable, and the John himself—it was a moment of shared gratitude.
