As a child, Cameron didn’t see his father much — he was constantly in and out of prison. When Cameron became a father as a teenager, he supported them the only way he knew how: by selling drugs. He ended up in a cycle of addiction and crime and just like his father, spent many years behind bars. “No treatment centre would accept me because of my violent criminal record and history. I called my sister, desperate for help. She told me that Hope Mission might be able to help, and I started making my way to the herb Jamieson Centre.”
At the old Herb Jamieson Centre, Cameron joined Breakout, the recovery program for men. For the first time in Cameron’s life, he had hope for a better future and a support network of people who cared about him.
It’s been over five years since Cameron graduated from the program and his life has completely turned around. This past year, his story came full circle when he ended up helping rebuild the new Herb Jamieson Centre — the same place that rebuilt his life.
